Just bought a second 808. Looking forward to midi syncing them up so I have 8 tracks to use. Bought this off Badhabitz an excellent UK hip-hop producer based here in Bristol. It is far less worn out than mine, was supprised how responsive the pads are compared to my original. It is still running the original firmware and 100mb drive so will change that up at some point. Bought it for the bargain price of £100

Dope. Can't beat that price.

I just installed a 250mb drive in mine and upgraded the firmware to the EX OS. Very simple process and surprisingly no headaches at all doing it. An hour of sample time is just silly. :)

Fluent, yes the EX system is great, I have a 750 drive in my older one, but considering keeping the 100mb drive in the second so I can still use my discs from way back. Do you know if the 250 drives can read and write to 100mb discs? I know the 750 drive cant.

The 250mb drive I got can't read or write 100mb discs.

Which 750mb drive did you get for the other 808? I should have probably grabbed a 750, hah. Would never have to delete anything.

Are you sure about that?
I've used Zip100 discs in my Zip250 drive many times. In my SP-808, MPC2000XL, my desktop PC and in my external SCSI Zip250 drive.

My mistake. What I meant to say was that the 250mb discs I have aren't compatible with the 100mb drive. Got a little turned around there.

Not sure about the 250mb drive reading 100mb discs, haven't tried it yet. I'm just trying to get the thing to stop being Too Busy when I've recorded 4 tracks A, B, C+D.
