yo i've been reading this forum ghost for a while and found a lot of good info. thank you for that.

one question about 303 how do you all save/backup your patterns/songs for future use like what if you make a quick beat and then 3 years later someone hears the rough copy U put down on a beat cd and they want to make a track with it.. how do you all save that pattern/beat so you can go back to it later and fix it up or add to it? or is the way of the sp mad raw and U record over whatever u had saved at the time two track overdub?

thanks for reading

You can back up the data on your computer with a usb SM card reader/writer.

If you record it to your card and save it to computer. And you want to put the project back in your 303. Will every sample/pattern be on the pads they were on once?

very interesting question that bothers me not only regarding to sp.
i still haven't found a way to have everything organized nicely on it. the idea that i'm hooked on lately is using sp with a multi-track recorder and save/mix/record everything there, while using sp as a beat sketchbook and main instrument.

this,

and a nice way to chop a sample, and have each chop cut off each other.

Ya just put the sm card in a USB reader and drop the main folder into a folder on your computer. Rename the folder you have just put on your computer to something that will remind you what's on it. On the 404 this folder is named "ROLAND" so when you want to use it again it needs to be named the same way. I'm sure the 303 is similar. Also I do not use internal memory banks as this won't save/back up those files using this method.
