Hi,

I went from my Asr 10 back to Sp 303 today and it feels good to have more ''Freedom'' when making beats without sequencer and so on, but my question today is:

How do you guys use the Effects on the sp 303 and how do you combine these?

Too often I end up with just using the Compressor, Vinyl Sim and Equalizer.
These Effects are dope, i know , but I just want to work with my samples more.

... and yes I will go and try things but some tips on that Topic could be very useful for me.

To sort of pitch/tune things I lately like to use the Chromatic Pitch Shift (MFX 19)! If you turn the 4th knob all the way up and assign the 2nd and 3rd knob to the same settings, for example -C, your sample somewhat pitches.

The Tremolo/Pan (MFX 6) is also lots of fun to use if you wanna layer a sample with something else that are kind of in the same frequency range (most time mid-range).

The Lo-Fi (MFX 14) can be used to get a lo-fi/grittier sound. I like to use it much on my hi-hats lately.

And also the Reverb (MFX 1) is always nice on snares if used properly.

Though, these are techniques I use.. I still need to explore and find a use for all the effects.

The slicer is pretty rad for tweaking rhythmic cuts of a sample on the fly while resampling.

+1 slicer
Phaser can mix bass tones well
Radio tuning can amplify quiet sounds (without compression?)
MFX 21 is kinda like a shelving eq which can be really useful
