Well, I just got the -6 dB phono line-level attenuators, and the results are everything I hoped for. Levels are loud enough at the mixer not to be problematic and the sound quality as far as I can tell is perfect.
Thank god. Looks like I'll be using the 404 for a while yet.

I don't hear any humming ...

Well, having talked to pioneer, I feel I can confidently say that I'm fucked as far as not buying anything else to fix the problem. The roland people tell me there's nothing I can do besides turn down the input level, and there's no way to control the output of the CDJ200.

start again -

first) fuck off the cdj200 - just get the 404 sounding right first thru yr mixer - using whatever samples are already on it...

So I called Roland today. The guy was very knowledgeable, but unfortunately it seems that there's no built-in way to deal with a high line level input. He did mention that I could look into something called an "attenuation cable".
I'm calling Pioneer tomorrow to get the exact output level of their ...

So I went back to guitar center today, and we spent a good 20 minutes looking at various solutions to my problem. The short answer is that unless I'm willing to spend another $400+ on audio equipment, I'm fucked. Tomorrow I'm going to call Roland and Pioneer, to see if there's anything I can do. I ...

heavy distortion with CDJ 200

I just bought two SP-404's for use with my DJ setup. First, let me say that I absolutely love these things. That said, I've been having a problem:

My setup is an SP-404 in-line between my CDJ 200's and the mixer. The sound that I'm getting out of the 404 is terrible. Heavy distortion, sounds ...
