highlander,
#2. the gate button pertains to each sample indivdually. when you press "gate" to turn it on or off, that is just for the last sample you played. when the gate button is lit for a particular sample, and you press that sample, the sample will play only as long as you hold it, and when ...

yeah it's the "gate" button that's causing the cutoff -- i just figured that out too.

Why not just use the card to export from computer --> sp-555?

my inputs on the sp are from my turntable right now, if i need sounds from the computer i just use the card.

it doesn't happen frequently to me either... and i noticed that if you put your finger on the corner of the pad and do rapid pulses without removing your finger you can achieve machine gun like sounds.. pretty cool.

i was just wondering if it was normal or not... it happens when you sorta "roll ...

does anyone else's sp-555 double fire?

I've just been noticing that mine often double fires if i'm not pressing it directly in center... Wondering if it's defective or if it's meant to be like that.

Which Windows are you using? It might be a Windows thing. Not sure, but you could try the Wave Converter program that's downloadable from Roland's website, perhaps it's a newer version or something. I never had your problem though.

Windows XP.

I think i'll try getting the one from their site ...

remember pads g-j are set to one channel higher than the rest of the pads. As far as input level. You have to adjust it using the digital level. To do so hold down cancel + start/end/level and adjust knob 3.

okay thanks so much, i couldn't find that setting in the book's index (just checked ...

okay the VST seems to be mapping now, but the sp-555 is trigger both the VST sounds at it's own built in sounds -- if i switch to a blank pad then the VST sounds dont trigger anymore -- grr.

configuring sp-555 for a DAW? (and audio interface too)

Hi All, I'm trying to configure the 555 in cubase and my head is about to explode.

Basically i've got it setup right now that my 555 is acting like a soundcard for my computer as well as an input (i think)

whatever plays through my speakers can be recorded in cubase!

the only thing though ...
