well.. Roland support says the same. I think i'm going to give it to my friend called Ebay...

I know but i think it's rediculous if the SP-404 doesn't have an option for that...

Still very difficult to stay exactly in the right tempo. There's got to be a way to hear the sp404's metronome or another recorded sample while recording a new one? If not, there's no use for me using it...

Well, The idea was to do it quick and easy without a computer... hmmm

That works but then there's no reason to use the 404 at all..

Anyone knows a solution to this? I have the following problem. I have a SP-404 and want to use it to arange guitar parts for my band. I can't seem to find how to get the tempo right. I can do this 2 ways but i don't know how

1) Hear the metronome while playing guitar and record that as a sample ...
