i made myself an effect order switcher pedal to do this.
u can buy one pretty cheap too but i wanted 2 in one box so i could do stereo.

its completely passive so no power required.

plug one sampler (SP) into the first loop. another sampler (MPC) into the second.

so default goes from input to SP ...

do your headphones have a built-in mic?
like 3 rings on the plug..TRRS.

sometimes things w/ 2 rings don't like things w/ 3 rings.

i had this a couple times. got a class 10 card and hasn't happened since. that was like 3-4 years ago maybe?

i realize this has been asked before
and many many apologies for this being my first post.
i have much respect for this forum

i have searched high and low.
would love a look at the service notes as roland likes to call them.
for the SP404SX and the SP555 too if possible.

i know its out there ...

u can do this with other effects too. like voice transformer, subsonic, etc.
any effect that allows you to cut the dry or the volume in general will work too.

i like voice transformer cuz its right on the front, and i almost never use it for anything else, so its like a dedicated mute.
