I have a few things I've been trying to do…I agree with one of the posters above, when I have less time I generally can get more done.
I have a couple of things I do: first thing is I don't watch TV during the week really. That frees up some time right there. Second thing is: if I don't have a lot ...

Re: How many different songs do you sample for one beat?
I did this track a few years ago and sliced about 5 tunes up to make it…you can hear it better in the last half of the track. More samples the better!

This one also had 3 or 4…some are pretty obvious :)

Re: Your workflow...
Often: make a beat in Maschine, record it from computer to 404sx, (or just make a beat from kicks and snares i let sit on the 404) resample for effects and length, grab random record, get some chops, resample xinfinity, final resample to empty pad of the whole track, then move via memory card to ...

Re: Sample Library Organization
I actually have AudioFinder somewhere, I should pull that out and use it in my organization. In the past I have been very unorganized so this is my attempt to try and get a system going…hopefully it sticks! Everynight I've been taking an hour or so and sampling random records. I find it's kind of ...

Sample Library Organization
I've been working on starting a sample library lately…my process is to just take records, grab small bits and pieces of things I like until the pads are all full, then I've been dumping them all to my computer, dropping them in Ableton and processing them further or making drum or instrument racks ...

Re: 6 months wih 404sx, no luck.
Make stuff in FL and then sample that into the box...mess around with it and throw it back into FL...repeat. I find that really helps me get out of creative slumps, because you can always whip something up on the computer, just sample that and chop it up.

This is great...I'm a fairly new ESX user, I'd love to hear your start to finish workflow.

Re: Where to begin???
I just got mine a month or so ago but I'm finding it's pretty easy to do whole tracks using the resampling method. I don't use the sequencer at all. What I've been doing is keeping kicks/snares/hats on the FGH banks and copying them to the B bank when I want to do a track. Then I'll sample something ...

Re: Best way to use/hook up an sp w/ a macbook and daw?
^^^totally agree with this. I've gotten caught up in the same issue with other hardware I've owned, so I decided this time would be different. I'm an Ableton/Maschine user and have been for years. I got the 404 to get out of software for a while. So without worrying how I was going to integrate it ...

Thanks for that...the guy who sold me the ESX actually told me about Slava. Pretty wild that you can do all that with one machine.

Re: 404SX and Electribe ESX
yeah that's more the style I'm thinking of using after what I did last night...get some ESX jams recorded into the 404 and work with them there. I hate the 404 sequencer though so I never use it, just resample, which I find to be an awesome way to work up tracks really quickly. I'm pretty tight with ...

Re: 404SX and Electribe ESX
All makes sense and thanks for all that! I've been watching a lot of Sauce's tutorials, they are extremely helpful. The multiple one shots in one sample thing is genius. Last night I tried this: Make a beat on the Electribe, record it into Ableton, chop it up in session view. Add some Maschine parts ...

404SX and Electribe ESX
I just picked up an ESX on Craigslist. Anyone using these machines together? I'd love to hear some workflow tips
