hmm.. never mind. i guess the bank was full. I saw a F.U.L flash quickly on the display this time while loading. I had stereo samples on one bank... replacing them with mono samples fixed the problem.

There's currently only a single sample on pad 1 in Bank A on my SP303. I'm transferring 8 samples at a time from the smartmedia card and I'm able to transfer all 8 at once to banks B, C, and D.

But when I try to load 8 samples to Bank A (in the same way I'm doing with other banks) it only loads ...

I've figured out that it doesn't matter at all. The issue I was having was not related to hidden files. For some reason, it wouldn't read my WAV files and it only reads AIFF files.

Am I the only one with this issue? Does anyone ever switch banks after triggering a sample?

I just noticed that if I trigger a sample in Gate mode and switch banks while that sample is playing, that sample will keep playing in the background and stay looping from the beginning of the sample until the part when the bank was switched.

Anyone else have this problem?

So Roland support suggested converting the imported wav from itunes to an aiff file and this time the sp303 imported just fine. I used a single sample named SMPL0001.AIF

My original wav samples were created in Ableton Live so there must some kind of header information embedded by Ableton when ...

i just went throught something like this. try putting your files in itunes and convert them to wavs, then load them directly on to the card without opening them in any other program.
I just tried that by importing into itunes and using the copied wavs from the itunes library and it still does the ...

So I just got a sp303 and it's not loading samples for some reason. I followed all the instructions and have 16bit 44.1 khz wav samples named accordingly in the root of the card. When I press REC on the sp303 after selecting the bank though, it goes to 1.0.0 with blinking dots and then to . .0. with ...

Yeah, I did format the card and I even initialized the sp303 to factory default. I even figured out how to delete the hidden files but that didn't help.

Does anyone know if sp303 can read smartmedia cards used with Mac OS X? It seems that OS X creates hidden invisible files on the card called .Trashes which prevent the sp303 from working properly.

If the sp303 came with a 128mb inside, I would assume it works. I don't think it would hurt to try it.

Can you use a drum machine (with midi out of course) like the boss dr. rhythm series to sequence the sp303 or sp404? More specifically, I'm wondering if you can mix and match the internal sounds on the drum machine and the samples on the sp303/sp404 samplers on the same pattern in the drum machine ...

^^^ He just means using an external multi-track recording device like a computer program or a 4-track to piece together your full "songs", rather than the 404's pattern sequencer.

I prefer tracking out externally.
