I was in the same boat. At first, I was really hyped for the MKII. When I finally got it, I was disappointed that I couldn't use my exact same workflow and got pretty frustrated by it. But, I had sold my other gear to get it, so I had no other option! So after putting it down for a good long while ...

I don't like the MPC500 at all. It involves 10 times more menu diving than other MPC. Way to difficult to navigate quickly...if your used to an SP at least

I like the numarks myself. I use 2 TTXs that I've had since 2002 and still goin strong.

You can use the 303 as a midi piece slaved to the MPC. Then you just certain pads on the MPC to trigger certain pads on the 303 and you got the best of both worlds right there.

I ditched my my 303 for reason...then ditched reason for an mpc then ditched the mpc for live then ditched live for the 404/505..now Im on the 404+555 plus a CZ-101.

through all that nonsense I realized simpler is better. I Think you will find if you switch from hardware to software you will end ...

Like someone said...its a 2009 404 and sells a little cheaper. I'm ok with this. What im wondering is with this new sound engine is it possible the timestretch could sound better? That alone would make it worth it...and if it has new pads...404 pads throw my timing off...its like banging on stiff ...

Its obviously not the best mic pre in the world but it nots bad. It sounds better than something like a behringer. I don't know what mic your using but that could be the trouble. Also, I'm curious as to why you are running a DI for the mic ?

The 555 doesnt have the vinyl sim compressor the 404 has...which IMHO is the best compressor the SP series has offered. It kinda sounds like tape compression. But at I would still rather have a 555 than a 404.

Nope, the closest thing to a workaround is using the USB to sync it with software and do it that way..which works pretty well if you mind being tied to a computer to get that done.
