One of my favorite tapes of 2013 was Mndsgn's Frugal Earth which consists primarily of what most people would call mashups. Mndsgn takes vocals from other songs, isolates them, pitch shifts them, and (maybe?) changes the bpm, then layering them on top ...

So after analyzing my 1gb kingston I found that I only had 10% fragmentation but almost the entire card was filled. Only one or two of the 'cells' were empty. I don't even have banks D/H and E/I loaded with anything! I ended up backing up the important files and wiping everything.

I'm going to give this a try and I'll let you know how it turns out. My CF card is all kinds of screwy. Sometimes I can't resample into lofi or with mfx on without the track skipping or turning into complete static.

So I'm looking for some pointers to step up my sampling game. So far I've been through a stack of vinyls and I've found some nice loops but I can't really move away from the standard 2 bar loop with some added drums.

I know each sample is unique but what are some general sampling ...
