(In hindsight): Never wet-clean electronics, or if you must, let it dry thoroughly.

Best to bring it to a technician. There's so much that can be wrong. And perhaps just not one error.

Good luck!

Re: no audio output from SP-606

Don't have the Service Manual nearby now, but apart from faulty connectors it'd also be possible that the electronics (opamps) driving those outputs have been overloaded by previous user, so should be replaced.

There should be a protection for this (series resistor & internal overcurrent ...

Re: my 606 is sick

You checked for an empty battery (CR2032?) inside ?

You could contact Roland for assistance, their support for older stuff is great.
You could ask them for info on the so called self-test which most of their products have - and as also described in the service notes.

Policy seems to have changed a ...

Re: a bit confused about import vs load etc

Hi,

It's been a while, so the exact details escape me.

But what I forgot to mention previously: all my loading of samples to the SP-606 was without any USB-connection to a computer. I'm using an USB-card reader connected to a PC, there I put the .wav-file(s) (of proper properties) on the CF-card ...

Re: a bit confused about import vs load etc

Hi,

After the .wav-files have been converted to Roland-format you can delete the .wav-files!
So that sure reduces the number of files on the card and also the CF-card-space.
In fact I simply nEEd to remove the already converted .wav-files, since I'm using quite a few longer samples. The SP-606 can ...

Re: a bit confused about import vs load etc

Hi,

Some RE to part of your questions:

All samples get the data-compression treatment, both the internally stored ones, as well as those on CF-card. But it sounds decent.

I don't readily recall the 200 sample limit, but if so it'll indeed be in the manual. I guess the most obvious way is to ...

Re: SP-606 EXT midi out

Would the HOLD button have any effect on the outgoing MIDI notes ?

Would be nice if that would be the case: making pads toggle-style
(the SP-606 manual calls this 'ALTERNATE')

- haven't tried this

Thanks/bye

Hi,

(please allow me to reply to this thread as well - have also posted this in the SP-606 section)

I've seen some mentioning of the V-Link across these pages, and also thje Motion Dive VJ controller.

Couldn't get a clear impression whether it's best to be avoided (nice idea, but abandoned, no ...

V-Link & Motion Dive - still any good ?

Hi,

I've seen some mentioning of the V-Link across these pages, and also thje Motion Dive VJ controller.

Couldn't get a clear impression whether it's best to be avoided ( nice idea, but abandoned, no further support, so better don't bother anymore ) or can it still add cool things to a setup ...

Re: Effects knobs not working properly

Roland is very helpfull when requested to provide the Service Notes (if you don't further distribute it, upload it etc).
That document contains a test-procedure, which also goes thru all knobs & buttons.

This might probably only confirm what you already know though, but still, perhaps something ...

Re: .wav / .aif

Too bad the SP-606 doesn't keep sample-names intact.

when you transfer samples from pc to 606, names rest the same...

Yep, that's true when importing files from a CF-card, the names are indeed recognizable (if they're not too long) when selecting a file for import.

But once imported ...

Re: .wav / .aif

Cables and a record button works every time

You're right, that always will work.

I came here from machines like the Roland MS-1 etc... nothing else than indeed recording in real time there... so had my fair share of that. That triggered the desire for file-transfer. Too bad the SP-606 doesn't ...

Re: .wav / .aif

While many wav & aif files have been imported fine here, I have one stubborn 16-bit wav-file that refuses & refuses & refuses to import.

But it's OK! Not even that long, I have other much longer files that went fine. 44k1, 16bit, stereo, all good...

I should still try to copy the contents to ...

Re: A(D)(S)R-envelope for Amplitude ?

There is an Envelope effect, its number 45 and consists of Cut-Off, Release, and Reso. Maybe cut-off works like an attack but I lost my manual at the moment. But combine that effect with Subsonic effect and you should be good to go.

EDIT: Yes, there is Attack and other goodies. Just go to Envelope ...

Re: Samples on CF-card ... but for which pads/banks ?

Banks 1-8 are internal memory and banks 9-32 are memory card. I hope that helps mate.

Hi,

Thanks, yes, that's how they're organized.

Thing is, I have CF-cards previously used with the SP-606 and of which I know I have various samples somewhere in banks 9 .. 32.

But when now inserting them ...
