Sometimes I use the compression in pro tools that came with my m-audio capture interface. It sounds pretty good, but it's a bit of a hassle having to plug in the audio interface and everything just to launch pro tools.

When madlib was making albums, I assume his beats were taken to a professional studio to be mastered right? That's something I'm always confused about. yeah probably thinking a beat is really good then never being able to get drums to sound right with it or something, then spending 3 hours hearing the same loop and hating it. The worst thing I can do is just throw it out because sometimes I revisit stuff and I like it again.
