Stuff To Know (PDF)
It's not part of the original manual/literature. Not sure where I downloaded it from.. Roland US or a UK site? Maybe helpful to those starting out if they haven't seen it.

Re: 555 deleted my card. Any way to save the files?
I'd try making a copy of the card on your computer and maybe contact Roland support to see if they can help. This is why I say not to rip the card out of your SP while turned on, as eventually, the card gets corrupted. When I had that happen where the SP had to format the card to use it again, I was ...

Re: Enough about CF cards, how about some actual 555 info
Perhaps everyone discovered torrents for Kontakt and Turnado, but since I have the thing and mostly just used it for a drum module for a few years, I've started messing with the SP more...

Re: Despite what this video says, don't do that.. (CF Cards)
I probably did that for a year, but eventually, I corrupted my CF card by doing so. Reformatting the card fixes it, but luckily, I didn't lose anything important.

Old video, older OS, they probably use a Mac, etc..
Turn the SP-555 off before inserting or removing a CompactFlash card. You will eventually corrupt the card and have to reformat it.
I've had mine since 2008?, and it's always started up fine with a CF card in the unit.

Re: Known Working Compact Flash Cards
My idea is telling what I'm using in it that works helps others in their flash card decision. The system update fixed it for most cards, but no one wants to buy a card, and it not work. If it's been covered before for a different sampler, it's covered again for those using the SP-555. Hopefully, the ...

Re: Known Working Compact Flash Cards
Transcend 133x 2GB CompactFlash works as well. I recently purchased 3 for just under $30 from Amazon.com, though I believe they just raised the price up to $11.89, when they were previously a little over $9 a card.

Wave Converter
Not much to it, and it generally works fine for me on Windows 7. If it gives me an error, it's because:
1. It's not in the correct uncompressed CD quality 16 bit 44.1khz format.
2. The sample is TOO SHORT (like a hihat you trimmed away the silence on).
My fix is to open the sample in a wave editor ...

Known Working Compact Flash Cards
The v104 update should have fixed issues with a lot of cards, but I like to know what works before wasting time and spending money on them or to save money with cheaper cards. Feel free to list your own working cards.
Lexar Professional 80x 2GB has always worked with no issues (on v103).
