Re: UK Cassette Duplication

Sorry I can't help more. There used to be a several good short-run plants all around the country but more or less everything has gone the way of the dodo.

Obviously it's your decision to make, but I will say that when offering something like a cassette or even vinyl, what is basically considered an ...

Re: UK Cassette Duplication

Haven't done any for some time now but Tapeline are really good, if you can wait, do. Tapeline really are one of the best for service and product. They hooked me up with some good deals on coloured tapes too.

Re: Help! Advice for live performance on SP.

Lately I've been moving samples from old beats I made on my MPC to the 404, chopping them up and resampling them with drums. So pads 1-4 is hats and percussion, 5-8 kicks, and 9-12 snares. All the drum samples are either exactly the same or similar enough that they sound good together, just layered ...

Re: What's everyone...

I have a 2hr DJ set on Saturday and I am going to do the whole thing using only a 404. So....trying to figure out how I am going to make it work.

Re: How to connect my 303 to focusrite 6 usb?

Most (all?) of the Focusrite sound cards have those combo XLR inputs where you can use 1/4 line or XLR mic.

303 RCA outputs > Focusrite 1/4inch inputs via RCA to 1/4 inch adapters.

Re: Wich one works better to make hip hop beats? 404x or 555

Instruments rarely work "better" for certain styles of music. Obviously if you wanted to do Hip Hop you would in all likelihood be better off with a drum machine or a set of turntables than say, some maracas and a didgeridoo. But when it comes to samplers, synthesizers, etc. they really aren't ...

Re: Used 303 or new 404SX?

I don't have a 303 so can't say much about that but the SX is definitely capable of messing up sounds pretty good. It definitely offers a lot more control than a box of its size should. I've turned drum breaks into fat bass lines, electric pianos into synth emulations, all types of stuff.

Re: Multi-Track Recorders??

I can recommend the 2488 neo 100%, it's almost perfect for tracking out from an MPC or a SP1200 thanks to the 8 ins and MIDI out. Like spring said, it's an investment but if you really want 8 tracks at a time it's a very good machine.

There is also the Zoom R24 which is pretty dope from what I've ...

Re: Multi-Track Recorders??

I wouldn't recommend a VS to somebody who has never recorded anything before. It's not the kind of thing that only an engineer could use and I'm sure a beginner could figure it out with a little help from the manual but it's not really the way you want to go if you just want to get stuck in quickly ...

Re: The much dissed Korg Microsampler: better than you think

Almost everything I do that ends up getting recorded is around 170bpm with drums running in half time. It's just something I've always done because when I got my first MPC I was into really surgical stuff. So doing this on an Electribe would double the resolution of the step sequencer for drums ...

Re: The much dissed Korg Microsampler: better than you think

Yeah if you could post your thoughts, that would be dope.

I basically want one to sketch out drum sequences and basslines. Electribes actually have some of my favorite drum sounds of any machine and I've wanted one since forever because of that and they seem to be pretty cheap used at the moment so ...

Re: The much dissed Korg Microsampler: better than you think

Yo I think most (all?) of the sampling modes automatically set velocity to fixed, but you can definitely change the velocity curve for individual samples, there just isn't a shortcut for it on the keyboard like most other settings. So trigger your sample then hit edit, go to sample, hit edit again ...
