I just got that eq sheet and yes I'm practicing and delving into tutorials and knowledge. There's just so much out there (stylewise).
My samples are either lifted from vinyl or good drum soundpack wavefiles and sometimes I do indeed have mp3 samples (256 and up bitrate).
More specific:
Do you ...

Mixing down knowledge
I'm trying to find a way to get my beats (ableton + 303 user) to sound decent enough to share with the world. When I listen to my beats I notice they really sound different mix wise. In a way it's like roulette. I'm trying out all these different settings and plug ins throughout the year. Still I ...

Re: dakim vid / setup question
@ellaguru. I see what you mean. But I'm a no quantize dude with an oke sense of rhythm. But in case of this dakim delay method it's a different story. When u try to add more sounds with the delay method on top of a loop (done the same method) it's like playing roulette.

Re: dakim vid / setup question
I tried it and it kinda works when I make a lil loop. But adding more layers after resampling is difficult. Everything gets really out of sync on top of it. Is there a way to get it more in line, more quantized in sync? Would be nice to really compose joints with this method.

Re: Signature style/sound dilemma
True but the proces of improvement is never finished. I don't go like 'hey this method is really working out for me and now I wil proceed with making music'. I'm more likely to keep questioning myself about the basics and looking for new methods WHILE I'm writing, creating. I just need to draw a ...

Re: Signature style/sound dilemma
Some valid points are made by y'all. It's not even the idea of emulating styles. But it's true what's said about just doing you, without too much looking around. But I guess it has something more to do with a lack of limitations in my case. The whole idea of endless experimenting, learning musical ...

Sometimes i get in a bad mood because i can't stay with one kind of style for more than one track and finish some coherent stuff. Feels like a curse.
Most of the time i try to finish songs as fast as possible to not get bored with them. The next day i think i should work on something real ...

Signature style/sound dilemma
I've been making music for a couple of years and get kinda stuck in which way I wanna go with my music. It started with '90's hip hop beats, then I started getting into soulful downtempo house, glitchy stuff, then I got into the future bass, garage. And It's always been a mixture. Not like I'm goint ...

Re: about "Knxwledge" sound!!
I've foud an easier way to do this with The 'Four Tet' method.
Just place 1 warp marker in an audio file and then 'slice to midi'. After that you have the sample on one pad in a drum rack.
Next you just adjust start/end points and ctrl-drag (duplicate) the pad onto the next empty pad.

Re: about "Knxwledge" sound!!
the only thing I wonder is how the hell does he work with the ableton slice to midi and the warp markers. Im fuckin around with live 9 for a while now and all i can say is the shit is real time consuming. you gotta flatten/freeze your warped sample then you gotta slice em to midi without being able ...

Re: Quick Chop Technique for SP-303
Thanks for the tip!
So basically you have a 'main pad' with the full sample. You use this one to mark start and end points (with the great method you just explained) and resample each bit/chop to another pad?
How do you go about the resampled chops? These need start/end trimming as well right ...
