Re: Questions about QY70 and 404
Just won a qy70 on ebay.
I figure if it was worth a look for Thom Yorke, Bjork, and Jah Wobble then I'd like to see what I might be able to get out of it.

Re: Best Ipad/pod/phone Beat Making Apps.
Just won a Yamaha QY70 on ebay. Not for an IPad or Iphone but still a cool mobile compositional device.
Hell if it is a good enough tool for Thom Yorke, Bjork, and Jah Wobble I am willing to give one a try.

I am thinking about buying either one of these or a QY100. Any more to say about these?

I'd like to hear more about the qy70 and qy100...especially as to the advantages of the 100 over the 70.

Re: Anybody using an SP in conjunction with an MPC?
I like the looks of the MPC1000 and they seem to be a good deal used until you realize that to get full use out of one you will need to install a hard drive, 128mb ram, and the pay version of JJ OS. If you've got one of the blue ones (which are the cheapest used) you probably will need a pad upgrade ...

Is the non-usb version of this still available? Do you think it is better than the newer version with the usb out?

sp-555 vs sp-404sx vs sp-404
I am trying to really figure out what the difference between these is going to be in actual use. I realize the 555 is a bit bigger and has compact flash and more effects, sx has sd card storage and 404 uses compact flash, and both of the 404's can be portable which could be nice.
Has anyone tried ...

Re: SP-555 vs. SP-606
I am seeing both of these used at under $400. The 606 tends to be a bit cheaper than the 555 used.
So at a roughly similar price point which would you choose?

Do you find any advantage to using something like a zoom h2 and then transferring to the 404
Use the H2 on the field. Then transfer to the 404. Let me hear some results!
I need to get the sampler first! But then I will.

Anybody using an SP in conjunction with an MPC?
I've got a Zoom HD8CD, an electric guitar, some effects, and a monomachine. I am looking to get one or two samplers to help me construct tracks....I was thinking portable could be really nice.....like maybe an SP-404 or an MPC 500....but then I started to look at used prices and figured I probably ...

They've got what looks like an MPC 2000, too, along with all the SP's.

Re: Favorite SP unit?
If you've got the compact flash version of the 404 can you make some samples out in the field and then put the cf into the 555 and have it read the samples?
That would be a great thing. Do some work on the portable SP and then transfer over to the more powerful machine for work at home.
