And if so, what's the most I should pay for one. Just looking for an extra machine to add to my live set-up (404, mpc 500 & kaosillator)

no doubt. its just that sometimes the beat tapes one here (which i almost always enjoy) seem to vary. some sound grimey & un-mixed and some sound very lean and crisp.

i know a lot of you guys release beat tapes, and i had a question regarding mixing and mastering. how much time do you put in to the mixing and mastering process? is the idea to just put out music pretty much directly from the SP (or mpc in some cases), or do you guys take the time to mix/master ...

my equipment is split up between my real studio (sp12 turbo, 1x technic 1200, 1x numark ttx, vestax 06), my home studio (mpc2000 2x technics 1200, 1x numark ttx, vestax 05pro & technics mixer) and the stuff i keep on the go (sp404 & mpc500)
