How does the 808 perform live compared to say the 404 or 555?

I'm digging through the manuals, though it would be good to get an idea from someone who has actually used them.

IN particular, creating loops and playing them back as seamlessly and easily as possible from an external source ...

My guess is rca's as there also seems to be a problem with one of the channels. I'd open it up ( i have a soldering iron) but I'll probably just return it. Ah, the promise and the perils of the internet.....

Hi,

Just got a used 303 and so far I've been unable to play anything through the 303 to either record or apply effects using the ext source pad.

I've checked by main volume and input levels, everything seems fine. After reading through the manual again I can't think of anything else except that ...

Haven't got a 303 yet, so I could probably figure this out pretty quickly if I had one in front of me. However...

Is it possible to sample the real time output of a mixer via the send/return (with a wet/dry control) or do you need to plug the output of the 303 into its own channel? Just having a ...

Interesting. It must be something environmental. There's got to be plenty of 303's out there that aren't discolored that are equally as old. Though it seems counterinuitive that keeping them away from light might causes it. I thought it was the opposite for rubber i.e exposure to uv light caused ...

That was my first thought too, cartesia. The uniformity of the aging and the condition of the rest of the unit threw me off though, as with this:

When was the sp-303 originally released? I would have thought it would take quite a number of years to get such distinct discoloration.

Is it just my eyes/different lighting or are the pads on the second 303 a completely different colour? Were two models produced?
