Re: Planning on buying a SP404sx, some questions.
B.1 In this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoYGHb6szwE at 05:00 the dude samples sound straight into the pad he chose (this seems like a great feature for me), now, I assume you can do the exact same with turntable hooked into it? (Yes this was a question, a really stupid one ...

Re: slave microkorg to 404 via midi?
i think i'm going to try and run the sp through the microkorg via midi and then run the microkorg through fl studio via midi. i'm hoping to be able to build tracks on there and record.
anyone have any other suggestions?
You can't "run the sp through the microkorg via midi".
Again, the SP doesn't ...

Re: Recording help
springwater: proper soundcard with native ASIO drivers solves the issue. If you're a zero-latency junkie like me, get a PCI/PCIe one and enjoy 1ms latency.

Re: What is the difference between...
Old SP-404 has:
- hard to obtain obsolete CF cards
- divided pad banks on internal memory and card. Sucks for backups because the backup function only backs up the internal memory. On the SX, backup means the whole machine state with ALL samples and ALL patterns on ALL banks.

Re: matching turntable pitch
Maybe have a kind of pitch reference at hand, anything with stable pitch will suffice, even toy keyboards. You can use those guitar tuners too. Then find the next note on the keyboard for the sound you want to sample and match by ear until it's good enough.

Re: Been Looking for an Analog Synth
Not exactly analog, but

Does all "analog" sounds with ease and more, great control too.
You can get those used for around 300-400 bucks these days.

Yeah, I wonder how all the millions of musicians started out before there was Internet, I guess they just got their arse up, tried out stuff and eventually they even learned something just by themselves

5 x 180g = 900g excluding covers, unless you have some 120g records among them.

Re: Help on newbie gear decision.
When I had a 404SX I thought it added a lot of extra stuff to the sound. I recorded these hi-hat samples and they had all these harmonics that were not there in the original sample.
Ur doin it wrong
No seriously, maybe it was harmonics from slightly overdriving the input? I sometimes do that on ...

Re: mic/guitar input
Since the Nanozwerg is mono anyways, it won't be a problem as long as you don't overdrive the input. But maybe you'd even like that! Acid Techno anyone?

Hm, here's what I particulary like about the 404SX: it sounds very clean and neutral and does NOT add any character to the sound

Re: 404 LIVE ON STAGE W HEADPHONES? CUE UP MONITOR ISSUE
Maybe use a small pa/studio mixer - they have headphone outputs (loud too) and are very convenient for routing and monitoring.
