The inf file is RDIF1030 . In folder options you may want to enable "show file extension " and verify it's RDIF1030.inf .
Before you try anything else, first right click RDIF1030 and choose install.
Then in device manager try to update automatically the gs10.
If this doesn't work skip to 2:00

For loading full songs, it's recommended sampling them in realtime. I used to go out for coffee and leave the 606 loading tracks!

It shouldn't lock. Do you have access to other win7 machine? It looks like a hardware issue. Better invest on a card reader since it's way faster.

No need to wait. It's impossible, at least very time consuming for Mac. Try the external USB midi workaround and 606 as generic USB audio interface.

Try loading the inf file manually from the device manager . Look at first post. Keep in mind that the driver attached here has nothing to do with the actual GS-10 hardware . Download the driver win7 64bit driver from Roland instead.

I don't care about the sequencer , I like that it has 16 encoders but I wonder about the pads. Are they good?

I found a used 808 with internal cf reader at a reasonable price and maybe I'll buy it. Coming from sp-606 ,I downloaded 808 manual and was a bit disappointed ,because there are not many effects.

I read about people "updating" to 808ex OS but can't find the manual.

Are there any differences ...

To isolate the problem could you export from audacity the wav file and play it with another player in your mac with the built-in soundcard?
Does it sounds right?

Only individual samples can be exported as wav files in cf card.
For "exporting" a song you need to record it in a DAW where you set SP-606 as your audio device.
