Have you connected the midi correctly? cause some cable mean with 'out' out and another means connect TO out meaning its actually in, so maybe swap 1 time and try again! and also, does your usb-midi adapter has a switch on it to swwitch to midi thru? make sure if it is that you set it not to thru ...

Hi all, it's been a long time ive been here but it's really good to see that you guys succeed as well. Just wanted to add that you can go back to the orig OS for sp-808 ex with zip-drive if you for example want to make samples with the synths and rec to pc to after load back to the hard disk or play ...

I really wonder why they switched to zip disk cause the A6 is a older OS then the sp-808:

I know there's many many people lookng for an answer and as it seems it's gonna be harder and harder to finda Cf-Ide adapter that works as it looks that most compatible ones are discontinued or people ask like f**&#@ing 200 euro to take advantage of that situation, SHAME ON THEM!

I have to good reasons to believe its gonna work.
1. When adapted to the A6 , it does uses a HD (mine a 6.4 gb maxtor now)
2. The software is the same but then adapted cause when viewing the .mid files from the A6 it says sp-808 at the title meaning they are in fact the same OS but then slighty ...

Ok, now the braincracking part starts...
I founda way to view the .mid files from the sp-808 + edirol A6 and guess what, they are both for the sp-808! Only thing is that they adapted a few things for the diff functions like d-beam, step-edit and so on...

Yes, it was very stressful cause i've been afraid of jamming the system with a perhaps wrong OS but he....the unknown is a bit scary most of times ha ha, oh yeah, 2 points that are worth mentioning; I did manage to get the sp-808 ex os back, though that was another hassle cause after trying for like ...

Oh yeah, and of coure no "drive busy" errors and its a lot faster and it does send midi, only not the 3 turn knobs but all the faders and pads do (the play and stop functions i havent tested yet) and oh yeah, for those who want to try (at own risk, dont complain if you cant get your sp-808 os back ...
