Cool, thanks Drewzle..
They are quite reasonably priced too - the MPD32 looks like a sweet piece of hardware though, but a bit overkill..

How funny - I started this whole thought pattern looking for a unit that works standalone (thats why I went through the SP-505 and MC-909), but now I've ...

Sssoo.. I've been doing some more looking around..
I'm now looking for a good midi controller -
Trying to decide on which one - choosing from the new Akai MPD32, Korg PadKontrol or M-Audio Trigger Finger..

Swaying to the PadKontrol, especially after seeing a vid of a REAL drummer (I'm a real ...

Cool, thanks for all your responses guys, and the interested side conversations too.

Hot Sauce - Doubt I'll ever use it live.. More for stuffing around with at home, remixing tracks and laying down some very simple tunes.. The laptop idea might be good so I can stuff around when travelling, as I ...

You mean pad controller to use with Ableton?
That might be the best option for me now.

LinnDrum looks good, but I don't think we'll see it out before '09.

I wonder what Roland has planned, but again, I can't see them releasing anything new this year..

Hmm.. Maybe Ableton Live will be enough to keep me happy.. Was really hoping there was a piece of hardware out there I missed ...

Thanks Wax Inspektor..
The SP-404 does look good, although coming from an MC-909 and SP-505 - maybe I need more of a change.. I know this is the SP forum, but interested to even look at other brands (if though I'm a massive Roland fan boy ) ..

So, I've got the SP-404 on the list as a potential ...

New gear purchase - suggestions.

Hey all,
I've been going through a bit of gear lately - most recently an SP-505 and MC-909. I seem to purchase things then get over them in a couple of months - but make me learn a lot more abou what I want as a next purchase..

Anyway, a couple of things I don't like about the MC909: it's too ...

Audio Output - Which speakers/monitors?

Hey All,

This is a bit of a noob question.
I have a Roland MC-909, and have been using it with a pair of studio headphones I've got (reasonable Roland set I bought to use with my V-Drum kit).

My question is (sparked by a topic in the SP-606 forum), can I plug my MC-909 into my home stereo, or ...

I'm in a similar place as you - I'll be letting go of my SP-505 and possibly purchasing an MPC1000.. Obviously there are reasons to keep the sp505 (ssssweeeett effects being number one, whereas the MPC has stuff all effects), but want to keep my collection down to one toy..

Although, I've ...

Thanks for the response. Looks like the offer may fall through

I'm still hopeful.. Currently have an SP-505, but the SP-606 looks sweeet..

I ended up calling Roland today, and they were surprisingly more than happy to send out the P606 software to me.. reading other forums, it sounded like it ...

Roland SP-606 - Software Download Location?

Hey all,
I've been offered an SP-606, in good condition, but only comes with the power cable.
From my understanding, it uses a standard USB cable to connect upto a PC - so what I would need is the P606 software (drivers are available from the Roland site)..

Is it easy enough to get a hold of ...

Hey mate,
I'm in Sydney - and am thinking of selling my sp-505. Not sure how much they are going for lately though.
Good condition, box, manuals, etc.

Although trying to find a toy to replace it with first.. maybe an sp-606, or even an MPC.... hmmmm....

Weird,, I'm sure I posted another reply.. so apologies if it gets doubled up.

I've checked my Roland TD-6 VDrum manual, and noticed it does have Program Change as a valid MIDI output. I'm new to MIDI, so just need to spend some time with it to understand what the capabilities will be when linking ...
