^^^ The thing with a lot of synth pedals is they're not really designed to be played with effectively. The Boss' knobs are too crowded to turn reliably on the fly, and while the EHX isn't too hard for me to play with, since I DJ and am used to playing with faders, the bassist isn't super comfortable ...

My band's Bassist used to use an SYB-3. I've got it in my hands right now (It's hard to type! =^) ). Maybe he'd sell it.

If you want to hear it in action the Bass in these songs is playing through the SYB-3 the whole time (It's kind of subtle):

From a finance/budget/"you want to do this on a big-scale, right?" level, you'd be a fool not to buy the KP3 for $200. It's a good deal, and it's the one you'll end wanting to upgrade to anyway in the future.

Woah! 2.0?! That is *old* school. When did that come out? I used Acid 3.0 for years, but I've managed to get 6.0 now. I don't even use half the features, so I don't have any reason to upgrade, really. I just use it as a glorified ...

How does the sample sound if you listen to it on headphones through the 1/4" headphone jack on the 404?

It is a must if you're play out live on unfamiliar soundsystems a lot.

I'd go with REAPER if I was just starting out. I think it's the program you're going to see take over in several years. It's just so damn versatile and cheap. Throw Audacity in there and you're set.

As to the OP, you probably want both programs. You'll see. Once you get your game up, you'll definitely need a WAV editor like Audacity. They become very important in focusing on zero-crossings and tweaking the sound in a more "static" way than trying to keep ...

If you can pan your samples hard left and right in the box, and then transfer them to your sampler, then you could do some isolation on the way in by having each side of stereo input record to it's own track.

Yeah. We're already jacking everybody's sounds, we're pretty much breaking all the "rules" by default. No need to make up new ones.

I'd say the only thing you should try to stick to is sampling music you love. Don't just dig and sample for their own sake. Sampling is kind of like DJing, no reason ...
