You should take it off "Auto" when the 404 starts up when you're holding TIME/BPM. Use Ctrl 1 or 2 (I think it's 2) to switch it to "OFF" so that you can control individual sounds and not sequences and everything won't be BPM'd together etc etc. I'm guessing this is the problem.

Yeah he has a few I think. I know of Reverse Discourse which is one from 2003 that's an uninturrupted mix of beats he made.

I'd suggest buying a cheap metronome (some tuners have them built-in). You can get a decent pocket electronic metronome/bpm counter for under $25.

When you record in use the metronome to keep time for whatever you're rapping/playing.

Actually I've used Reason's metronome tons of times ...

EQ and as of late I've been heavy into the pitch fx mainly because it sounds so unrealistic and can change up sounds a lot without effecting the main structure of the sound.
