So consensus here seems to be that ENELOOP rechargeable batteries are the way to go.
I just wasted a few days messing around with radioshack rechargeable batteries, but gave up. Maybe they didn't work because I mixed them with some other nimh batteries... But I figure I can hold off until Eneloop ...
