Ok, so I downloaded the 555 wave converter but it only works with the 555.

What do I do?!?!?!

I have all my samples on a card, and they're in .spd format. How do I get them back?!

isn't .spd the native format for the 404? i'm pretty sure it is. if you sample something on the 404 it automatically saves it as .spd

anyway, is there anyway i can download the 555 software and try this out?

i just don't understand why i wouldn't be able to transfer my samples from one card to ...

moving or importing .spd files

Is there any way to transfer .spd files or load them from a card?

I really need these samples and they're saved as .spd files. Is there anything I can do?

Great, well thanks so much for the help with my problem....

Once again, my 404 doesn't recognize the upgrade when I load the card. I'm putting the file in the root menu, next to the "Roland" folder. Also, my machine does nothing when I put .spd files on the card. Shouldn't it automatically load ...

cool things about the 202

I actually own 2 of them because they are so cheap. It was my first sampler ever. I bought it on ebay, having really no idea what a sampler was, only that I wanted more variety as far as sound sources. The 202 is such an awesome piece of crap. Its limitations force you to be creative, which is a ...

Updating to 1.4

I'm having trouble updating my 404 from 1.2 to 1.4. I know the card I'm using works, and when I turn the 404 on with the card in, nothing happens. My 404 also won't recognize .spd files that I put in it's root menu.

I've already initialized the internal memory of the 404, and nothing changed ...

you could always just swap the order of the samples using the 404.

i think you hold delete and record, then CHG comes up. then you choose which sample you want to move. next you hit the destination pad for the original sample. if you're moving it to a pad that already has a sample on it, the 404 ...

ok, i found out that an empty formatted card will have a folder inside the "Roland" folder called "SP404" which is where the samples are.

However, I put the .spd files on there, then put it in the 404 and nothing shows up. When I hit cancel and A or B I get the ENP message.

So when you say to ...

they didn't appear to be in folders before. It looked like they were all on the root menu, along with a folder titled "Roland" filled with empty backup folders.

when I put the files on the root menu, the 404 asks me to reformat the card. any ideas? what folders would i have to create?

yeah, i have all the files off the card and onto my computer. once again, they are .spd format.

I reformatted the card. now do i just drag and drop the files from my computer into the root menu of the card, or is there something special i have to do?

ok, well is there a way to recover my samples? they appear on the memory card when I open it in the computer. there's got to be a way to use that data. maybe putting them in a backup folder or something?

here's my situation:
i'm using a 1 gig card in my 404. it's worked fine since i started using it. i filled all the banks with samples last night, then moved to a different room to use it with an amp. when i moved it, everything started getting weird.

it will play one sample fine, pretty much ...
