Re: SP-555, Software Synth, Midi Controller - How?

Ah shit okay OOPS

So I plugged the headphones into the computer and I see that now I only hear the synth playing and not the pads on the SP. The pads are still being triggered when I play the keyboard, but with the headphones plugged into the computer I don't hear them.

Not sure if this is ...

Re: SP-555, Software Synth, Midi Controller - How?

Ok... almost there. Thanks very much for the help, without human explanation I find the manual fairly useless a lot of the time.

My shitty yamaha is now playing the software synth sounds in logic, using the 555. Great! Except that the yamaha keyboard is STILL triggering the samples inside the SP ...

Re: SP-555, Software Synth, Midi Controller - How?

Awesome thanks!

keyboard connected to SP's "midi in" and SP to computer with USB. Have Logic open and have a software synth loaded up.

SP's pads are triggering the software synth, while playing the sounds saved on the pads at the same time. They keyboard's notes do not produce its own internal ...

SP-555, Software Synth, Midi Controller - How?

Hey

So. I've got an old yamaha keyboard which has midi in/out. I would like to use it to play software synths, running in Logic and Ableton. I would like to use the SP555 as an "in between" my computer's software synth and my midi keyboard. Is this possible? Or do I need another little midi box to ...

I tried setting the bpm to "resample" using the loop capture on the 555, works sort of - still needed fine tuning. I guess that's as good as it gets.

Resampling

Alright... making lots of progress with the 555. Been messing around with a mini Kaoss pas, feeding stuff back into itself on the 555... endless fun.

So when it comes to resampling - having some probably unnecessary annoyances. Scenario:

I have a loop I like. I want to apply some effects and ...

Thanks Mike, haven't messed with the AMP SIM much yet - try that out soon! Been putting off getting Live for a while now, subconsciously savoring the anticipation in some sort of weird procrastination binge. Cheers!

Wow, thanks all for the solid replies and advice. I'm intending to use the 555 for recording piano / synth / kaos pad guitar etc. (no loops, just interface to my computer) while adding sampled drums and myriad other interesting loops and sounds over top. Before, I was recording each layer of a song ...

Loop Layering

Once again, excuse the amateurism...

Put simply: What is the easiest way to synch loops so that if played at the same time they don't drift apart, timing-wise? I imagine there is a relatively simply way to achieve this. For example, I have some samples: live instruments recorded in loop capture ...

Alright, yeah recording audio in, good solution. *Cough* I, uh, wish I'd maybe considered that. Did I mention I was new at this? BUT / HOWEVER / AND ALSO / MORE CAPITAL EMPHASIS / I am not new at music, and think converting the files sounds more fun. (Specifically, looping and layering loops without ...

Pardon the inexperience... heh

This loop collection is amazing. I recognize a lot of them! Problem is I'm having trouble getting em on the 555. I tried putting the files in the root directory without using wav converter (which often works fine, not sure what this wav converter is actually needed ...
