Re: Good news! aka the Look What I Just Got thread

What a steal!

You know that you can easily put your own sounds on it using a standard eprom burner? Turn it into an 808

Hehe, yeah, a crunchy 8-bit digital 808!
m

Got a lead on a burner, actually. Interesting is that longer samples, like the crash, span several eproms. Curious to see what will ...

Re: Good news! aka the Look What I Just Got thread

I KNOW. It was sitting next to a VCR, actually. I played dumb and said "How much for this goofy old thing?"

The guy said "A friend of mine gave me that. I don't even know what it is. Two dollars." I have literally had dreams about scores like this happening.

I walked it to a guitar shop (2 ...

Yard Sale, $2. Works, needs some switches cleaned/replaced. Features mods for remote trigger of kick and snare, plus dinosaur stickers.

Re: Sampler/Looper/Tweaker for Live Band use?

Hah! Exactly what I planned on doing with the loop? I would have to catch one first to know for sure! But I was thinking mostly tweaking, processing, and generally rendering loops abrasive, particularly subjecting it to the SP-555's DJFX Looper was interesting to me. That and bitcrush. Lots of ...

Re: Sampler/Looper/Tweaker for Live Band use?

Aaaaah. After watching the demo, the Korg Microsampler may be the thing. Partcularly that "Key Gate" mode. That's EXACTLY what I'm after, or maybe even a little beyond. Thanks tons!

I also realized a workaround. On further thought. I could trigger SP-555 samples from a couple channels on my Korg ...

Sampler/Looper/Tweaker for Live Band use?

Ok; here's the thing. I bought an SP-555 and it's not quite doing what I wanted and I was hoping for some gear recommendations from you guys. I'd prefer a hardware device to a laptop.

I want to bring live sampling to an electro/rock band; more specifically I want to have a line-in from my guitar ...

Hmm. I'd say use pretty much any electribe (I like the EM-1 to start) as your MIDI sequencer and sync it to a 404, or even a 303. Then you'd have:

1.) The song composing options of the electribe (you could program intro/verse/chorus parts and save it as a song)

-and-

2.) the 404/303 would ...

I switched from the cred-boosting 303 to the 555 and never looked back.

BlindFold - I like that you pulled a real meditative groove out of a real busy track.
Sierackula- The bass sounds underwater. In a good way.
Deta!l - Pulling a deliberately dissonant hook out of the stepped ring aaaaalmost mod won my vote.
elhau - Love how layered the percussion is in this track ...

That's exactly who it is. Father of the modern title sequence. Dude directed a movie about super-intelligent ants, too.
