It's not the unit, it's probably your samples. If your samples are not properly chopped, they could be quantized perfectly and sound like fuck. I have NEVER had a problem getting something to quantize properly once I knew what I was doing with it.

You got to get used to the pad action on the 404. It forces you to be more precise than the 303.

That's all I've really got for you.

my pads are soft and very responsive. I might post a pic later to show why

Your 404 pads are soft and very responsive? If so, I'd be very curious as to see why ...

You must buy 1 GB sandisk ultra II to know the greatness that they are. They are pretty much all I use with a couple exceptions that are basically higher quality 1 GB sandisk cards (ultra III). They are great cards, you just can't use anything bigger than a 1 GB compactflash card with the 404.

Oh come on, you guys are definitely splitting hairs.

"lo-fi hip hop" is very dancy. It has a beat and is electronically timed....

The aesthetic characteristics of your samples define how people will react to the music.

the 404 is a sequencer that can sequence up to 12 mono samples ...

Two new songs.

One much spacier song (are coming for you) and a dancier new tune, Jacques Cousteau.

If you can guess where I got the drum beat loop for the refrain, I'll give you an e-cookie.

My new thing

www.myspace.com/mysticminstrels

All electronic. Made the page yesterday. The song up right now has actually been rearranged since that recording and will have vocals when it's finished but the beat is pretty cool and you can at least imply what it's going to sound like.

Hope y'all dig.

yeah, it's not really a necessity for us. we do fine without this...we're just always curious about where we can take things and this seemed like an interesting topic for electronic music. We love organic sounds and musical dynamic stuff so we wouldn't be using anything like this to compensate for ...

Okay so midi through box and a old recorder with a midi out and a bpm generator.

You're saying this setup would only get us firing on the same bpm, it would not necessarily latch onto the first pattern that gets going and then sort of guide imperfect fingers on other sps?

I guess I will have ...

Okay. So, would me and my bandmate Matt hook our sp 404 midi outs up to a drum machine at a set bpm with multiple midi inputs? Or would it be like a multiple midi outputs to one midi input hooked up to a drum machine? I am really confused, but I am trying to learn.

I basically am trying to solve ...
