Re: Old-timers

'sup to all SP heads. I've been trying to recover my password for eons. Tried to make a new account, nothing. Must have banged my head enough times because today I got back in. It seems like all forums have taken a hit in usage/popularity, but just wanted to give a shout to those still around ...

Re: how to do this with a compressor ?

i see this sometimes, and it would be awesome if someone could clue me into or school me on how to make a compressor do this or something similar , when i try to brickwall compress my drums still poke thru.
i try everything to turn them down and they still spike out, i can edit the

Re: 22.5 khz is enough dynamics

@IIIII - Interesting about the cassette observation. I usually just notice it rolling off the highs, and adding a nice subtle hiss.. but nothing strange when bringing it back in. I'll try 96khz and see if I notice a difference. I really do have a janky ear tho (otosclerosis), so I might not be able ...

Re: 22.5 khz is enough dynamics

I think it is psycho acoustics, anything above the hearing limit of ears.
The tabla drum is tuned with psycho acoustics, .

and also If you need to record at twice the sample rate, then working with 44100, shouldnt you be recording at 96 K ? To keep your 44.1 k work from aliasing ?

If you are ...

Re: 22.5 khz is enough dynamics

Sampling at 44.1khz delivers accurate audio in the human range of hearing (0-22khz or so). It's related to the Nyquist theorem. The highest frequency that can be *accurately* reproduced requires double the sampling rate. So by dropping everything down to 22.5, you pretty much cut the max frequency ...

sup spfam! recently finished a track here... Norman Connors and Ohio Players are buried in there along with some self synth work and other shit. Moody, dark, downtempo and maybe a bit reflective of some of the things I've been going thru mentally as of late. Trying to navigate the chaos bredren ...

had a hard time narrowing it down to selfish, IIIII, and kel. Ended up with Kel getting the nod.. that pitch shifting biz was nice. Honorable mention to gis_sweden, cos it was entirely in it's own lane on that minimal vibe. Of course, much respect to everyone who participated.. giving me a break ...

Re: Say something positive :)

Tho I usually remain in lurk mode, shouts to all of y'all! This place in itself is straight positive. There is a level of respect here you just don't find many places on the net.

Anyway, something positive... discovered something kinda cool you can try with the SX... note this only works with the ...

Re: Is it worse for a track to be too bassy or not bassy enough?

one suggestion, make sure you carve out a space for the bass, so it has a place to fit. Many times, when bass doesn't sound right... there are frequency conflicts with other elements used in the track. A sample might have a low frequency rumble in it that's just killing the bass without it even ...

Re: Wouldn't it be cool if there was a "Mini SP"?

i shot you back a pm. As formal mentioned, it's in rewrite mode. It looks pretty much the same, but the structure internally is completely new. This should make it a lot easier to debug, and expand down the line. The beta will resume i'm hoping in the next 2 months, and there are always spots open ...
