??? I'm not sure what you exactly want ???

Midiclock is full supported 24ppq ($f8), but not MTC(!) and the SP-404 metronome sound can be captured by the SYNC option of my tool.

Besides, the incoming midi-start/clock event doesn't start recording of SP-404, but it triggers the sequence in my tool by these events.

-->Thats the problem by rolands SP-404, which doesn't allow/accept midi start event in "record pattern mode"...

that, instead of syncing the tempo, you can use the metronome sound of an external recorder to trigger the sequence.

is there some way to convert MTC to classic midi clock signals?

please explain me (or better not), why you really need a hd recorder to trigger my tool, where this option (midi-in) is only for testing purpose?? ok my tool isn't supporting MTC, but listen...

...for myself, I use another midi sequencer hardware-box (which is able to send START/STOP/MIDI CLOCK) together with my tool and other midi devices, to get an expression how it sounds all together...

...before i have to RECORD the pattern on SP-404 by syncing only(!) with METRONOME sound of that device, BECAUSE roland developers have not implemented the recognizing of midi start and stop events for the internal record option of patterns ... ask me not why.
(i hope that explain now everything).

If you want to record a pattern on SP-404, you can't use external start/stop anyway!

Sorry for not maling myself clear ;).

The thing is, I use my SP as a central part if my studio set up, and since my recorder doesn't support typical midi clock signals, it would be great to use the metronome sound of the recorder to trigger the computer sequencer, especially when you record multiple sequences tonthe same song(to be able to stereo pan and mix properly). And alo of these new and simple home 4 track recorders don't have midi out.

But its just a tought/idea.

Yeah, this thing is pretty amazing. A million thank you's, Rio. This resolves *so* many workflow issues that I'm kinda overwhelmed by the implications. :D

you just made my life so much easier. as much as i love making beats on the 404 randomly, when you've been working on stuff for awhile and thinking about it and you know it exactly what it needs to be but you can't play it or working with like 8 bar loops or something it can get pretty tiresome.. so thank you so much!

I can't seem to get this working with my sp-303 and I don't know if it's out of my own ignorance or not. The sp-303 only has a Midi-In port and I have it hooked up through my akai mpk25 and from there into my computer. I've read the manual and this whole thread; I've selected the midi-out port of my akai mpk25 (not to be confused with the akai mpk25 itself in the drop-down menu) and wasn't sure of which channel to select, but i've tried the first 5 with no luck. I've followed the directions in regards to 16th quantize and synching, any help?
