if you want to compare the sound to something, save a really compressed mp3 as small as you can , thats about how good the quality is.

however you can do crazy syntheszier bass shit and glitches which makes this the ninja feture no one cares about back then.

you can also tune samples speed them up and slow them down .

Some of them even pre-date the Akai samplers if I'm not mistaken. Roland just didn't jump in the fight when Akai started to really put a heavy focus on samplers coming with their first MPCs. Can't say I blame Roland though, it has always been a niche market. :)

Nah the ninja feature was when you switched one sample to LONG mode they ALL went to LONG mode and you'd get some unexpected slowed down surprises- like, you couldn't pitch each individual sample you pitched the whole machine if I remember correctly.

thats cool. I always wondered if there is a mode on a machine where you can pitch a pad and they all do the same thing and also the sequence bpm goes up or down according to how much the pads are speed up or slowed down. So its kinda like playing a record at different speeds.

Well the BPM wouldn't change but I found that Long mode would slow the sample down the approximately half the tempo. Like: If you had a 100BPM song then went to long mode you might luck out and have the sample going at approx 50 BPM style with the sequence still going at 100- let me also add there is a reason why the MS-1 doesn't go for much used.

LOL- I still have the sample CD that came with it- who wants me to upload that ish?

man, i just read that eliot lipp's first album for eastern developments was made using only a hand me down ms-1 and a busted sequential circuits six track synth. shit fucked me up. the sampling and drum programing on that album is straight heat, and it was all done using one of these...

I'm not saying dude is lying- but you never know exactly what an artist used on their records unless you were there in the studio.

That MS-1 looks pretty usable for what I like to do. I like to eat mad tacos al pastor from the taco truck when I'm in the udio, the grease helps me get that swing when I play the pads.

I won one these shits on ebay for like $45. I think it'll go nicely with my DR-660. Can't wait to get my hands on it. Budget beats like a muhfucka.
