There will probably be many interesting sounds on the plane, but I doubt the crew will allow you to sample, though. :(

I use mine on batteries often- didn't think I would but I do- I take it with me places and used it in flight to a gig in Seattle earlier this year. I sat and tranferred samples from my M-Audio MicroTrack and edited and grabbed samples from the plane- the crew and passengers glanced a bit but was a non-issue otherwise including security scan where I thought for sure they would have made me open my bag and check it out.

A fav from the plane were a small kid saying "Um, is R2D2 a good guy?"

I have to filter those as the background noise on a plane even not in flight is nasty.

I made a short piece all battery driven on same trip through Santa Fe- I should post it here for you all to have a listen- I'll see how to do that- features a thumb piano I bought mounted on a drum skin- beautiful- from a German maker. Non filtered samples at the end gets noisy but just a fun thang. (I tried to post the file 3x as attachment but got "Tried to upload empty file" each time)

Have fun-

Om

Yo I been rockin generic Radio Shacks since day one. Pumpin 1.4 maybe that's the key. I can't be chained with a leash to a wall. Especially when the dirty AC makes shit buzz like a bee... What's cheaper, a line conditioner or some MFn batteries? I ask you... Marinate on that shit I'm back to the beats...

So consensus here seems to be that ENELOOP rechargeable batteries are the way to go.

I just wasted a few days messing around with radioshack rechargeable batteries, but gave up. Maybe they didn't work because I mixed them with some other nimh batteries... But I figure I can hold off until Eneloop batteries arrive.

The only batteries that seem to work thus far are alkaline non-rechargeables from cvs (though I'm sure any alkalines will work), but screw it, I don't want to be tossing away batteries every other week...

Anyways, hope this saves some newby (like myself) some time. Keep your receipts!

update:
I am now completely portable. And yes, Eneloop batteries are the shit. Get em on ebay for cheap!
