Of course I have to say Fostex!!! You can do alot.. I'm not sure about the Specs of the DP-01 but with Fostex you can upload wav files to and from your PC to Fostex at any time (using Fostex's very own Wavmanager software). Fostex can very easy intergrate with your software for more precise editing if you wanted it to.. Alot of people like to use Fostex due to the fact you can take your MR-series anywhere (like a friends house or to another studio) an load it up thru WavManager.. it takes only 23seconds to Download Wavmanager from Fostex website.. Plus the Support is GREAT!!! you can't beat it.. And if you can't get it from the support of forum users, then you can email the Moderator 24/7 and he will resond to your email..

Unless I'm sleeping
Just kidding I can help you out with anything or any questions that you might have about the MR-series.. Just fire away :D

Boss BR-532 simple and cheap digital 4 tracks with a good enough sound quality, the perfect match for my sp. Lofi baby :!:

That Boss BR-532 looks really awesome!
How does it work? Do you record the sounds from the 404 on seperate tracks (muting the others) so you can mix them individually?

Nope I just record the stereo line outs on 2 tracks, no overdubs or anything. I just like to keep it raw like that. I do all sequencing, sampling chopping and mixing on the sp-404, the br-532 is only used as a stereo recorder, I use the multi track feature to lay acapellas or the recorded beats. Keeping it simple works for me.

The method you describe to split different sounds over different tracks is also possible of course, that way you can add some of the br's effects to the different sounds in your beat, but I haven't looked into that (yet) I must figure out a method to keep the br and the sp in sync to do that.

word, br series is ill. i got the br 600. the only regret i have with the 600 is no midi sync, so i have to manually trim the drums and samples to sync, so its not gonna be 100% in sync , the way it came out the 404. not necessarily a bad thing.

I was using a zoom MRS-4b and its pretty crappy in the features department. I did really like the sound quality tho. It recorded at 32khz and had a fresh old scholl sampler sound to it. I used to just run stuff thru it to get it more grimmey...damn things card reader went out tho so now its useless :(
