is there really no one on here thats used acid to the extent that they can tell me how to simply slide a track forward or back on the grid?not individual sounds, just a whole recorded track,so i can make sure my shit is lined up..i'm not creating anything on acid, just using it to track my sequences.i would REALLY appreciate it.thanks

I use acid all the time.

To slide stuff around select the pencil tool, and then simply click and drag. The sound will snap to the grid, if you don't want it to snap, I.E you want to make a precise adjustments, just hold down shift while you drag the sample.

Easy.

Cool.. Glad I could help.

If you hold down space bar, you can get some crazy glitches. Moving a sample while Acid is playing is also pretty awesome.

Acid is probably the best program for making loops, and cutting samples. It's easy to use, can pitch/stretch stuff, handles midi nicely etc. etc.

Audacity is not really the same kind of thing at all.

Yeah Acid is kind of like the forgotten step child of sequencing programs. It was the absolute best thing in the world to everyone when it came out in the late 90s. Now programs like Cubase and Protools are more common. But people who use Acid absolutely love it. Usually people who started with that program just keep using it because it's so intuitive once you have it mastered. I'm one of those people. I've never even seen Cubase or the other newer programs. I guess I'm "old-school"... sort of.

I have cubase and acid but they are a totally different thing. Cubase is recording program, yes you could sequence with it but Acid is made for that and is an awesome program when you learn to use it.

Have a look at one basic tutorial on youtube and your set.

I had a little go a using cubase to sequence but i think that its rubbish, for making beats and loops, tho sequencing different loops and part together using cubase is much better

To be honest I use Sony SoundForge since I remember :P
I have not bothered myself checking other sound-editing software as SoundForge was good enough for me and I haven't tried to look for other appz.
After looking at your opinions, I think I'll check Acid out :)

Acid is an excellent program, it used to be the best for sequencing Yes.. It has beaten out the infamous Cubase when it comes to sequencing.. I enjoyed it, I left it behind when Ableton Live 5 came into play.. but now I might resurrect it just for fun.. It's definitely worth checking out..

Live is becoming the MPC of software. Everyone 'has' to have it. I personally hate the bloddy thing, but I'm alone on this one I know...

I'm with you on that 606man. I also dislike protools so I must be insane. In a few years people won't even know what beatmatching is.
