Kel got an X :o

How is that Model 12? I always get Tascam for recording. My DP03CD knobs turned to dust and anything rubber on it. I blame myself for spray painting guitars nearby. Chemicals ate them. Also to mention a MicroBR and my little DP008 got the knobs and buttons crumbling to dust.

Now all I got is the DP006.

I saw the podcast version with pads too.

Glad you asked… it’s fucking killer. One usb cable can serve the one/live/X with as many digital ins/outs as you need.. in the sample menu on the mpc you can just turn the jog wheel to select the tascam channels to be sent as outputs instead if inputs if that masked sense… you could have a different sample source hardwired to every channel on the model 12 and access any of them by selecting the corresponding channel in sample mode on the MPC. Not to mention you can internally switch the channels around in the model 12, never needing to repatch. I strongly recommend the unit, especially since you are a tascam guy and your 006 may be on the way out (I recently bought one of those too and I love it). Check out a video on YouTube by Tefty and Meems, it’s like 46 minutes and explains everything. I’d link it but dunno how..

Oh yeah and it sends midi clock and it’s transport/mark points can control the timeline on the mpc. Seamless punching in/out set to bar and beats, works perfectly. Out of this world really….

 thats bonkers bro! One machine to run them all. Thanks, gonna take a look at one soon as my MK2 arrives. Tascam really upped their game. I always message them to get into samplers.

I've become a tenant at the Elementstudion, a professional recording studio in my hometown, and the main hub for experimental/electronic music in west Sweden. Tenants have access to and can use every piece of gear in the place. No shortage of synths and keys, as you can see! Stoked...

I've pared the home-studio setup to midi-controller running Ableton, op1 and SP-303 combo for beats, all the other SP's are now at Element and will be used in my experimental work, processing feedback loops in the rig you can see in the photo I accidentally didn't resize.
The last photo is my playing-partners setup, featuring the https://www.landscape.fm/stereofield/ noise synth. Good times ahead...

Man that studio is insane! Is that a Moog Modular? I would definitely hire it If I would live in Sweden. Would be even worth a trip if it wasn't for this dire situation we find ourselves in right now. Actually the last trip I've been on outside of the Netherlands was to Mälmo in december 2019 for the Undisputed Bboy Championship.

My setup. Currently using the SP with the Zoom most of the time.

Don't like staring at screens.

Apart from a few Pad- and Bass-Sounds I didn't use it that much yet. As I don't use a computer for beat-making either I find it hard to programm and to be honest, I didn't really dive in it yet. But I like the sounds, the Modal Synths can produce and for the price I think it's a great deal.

Liking the turntable and the Roland boxes, but I'm surprised you bother with MD stuff!

I just use the MD's like tape machines for demos and working out arrangements..I always like to have rough mixes of the stuff I'm working on as I do a lot of live improvising on keys, guitar and bass etc, which I'll often then edit, refine and tweak for the final versions of the tracks I make.

It's an old school way of doing things but it's always been the way Ive worked on music generally tbh.

I used to think you probably use the Reel to Reel in your avatar to do stuff like that. Makes perfect sense though, to leave something on record just in case. I used to do it myself although I'd record to cassette.

Hopefully some day soon I'll get back to doing it!

I'm finally back after having to unexpectedly move (and being locked out of my account a few times :x ), but it ended up working out great for me because now I have a whole room dedicated to my studio. I have quite a bit of stuff due to GAS over the years, so it made sense to divide everything into groups based on the kind of music I'll be making with the gear.

I'll start with the samplers since that's what we're here for. This rig is for mostly boom bap/lofi, I try to do most everything with just samples from songs off of my SD card in the tablet, but I have a few backup drum samples in the MPC. All 3 samplers are connected in a loop so that I can easily pass things around.

Left: MPC 1000
Top: Roland MS-1
Bottom: Android Tablet (in lieu of a record player)
Right: SP-303

Next is my ambient synth rig, which is probably may favorite setup of all time so far but has required the most tweaking to get it feeling natural. The coolest part about it is the theremin attached to a latching reverb pedal so that I can use it to create lush pads. Everything that comes out of it sounds like a horror movie or outer-space movie. I'm planning on replacing the drum machine with an FM drum machine, so it'll be a mixture of analog and FM textures.

Top Left: Moog Etherwave Standard
Bottom Left: Walrus Slo
Top Stack: Roland DR-660, replacing with an Elektron Cycles
Bottom Stack: Yamaha EMT-1 (2 on top of each other for that sweet 16-voice)
Middle: midiplus miniX4 (for the EMT-1)
Bottom Middle: Zoom Livetrak L-8
Top Right: Arturia Beatstep Pro (for the Grandmother and DR-660/Cycles)
Bottom Right: Moog Grandmother
(also has a QuadraThru for MIDI routing)

Lastly is this hodge-podge group of leftover synths, but I'm not sure what the purpose of this rig will ultimately be... Maybe some trance/drone music

Left: Korg Kaoss Pad KP3+
Top Middle Left: Nady MM-141 (probably not recommendable)
Bottom Middle Left: Zoom 505II
Top Middle Right: Krischer Mini
Top Right: Korg SQ-1 (sequences Krischer Mini and clocks KP3+ and Volca)
Bottom Right: Korg Volca Bass
(disregard the guitar head)

Sold all of my records and turntables / gear except for the 303 and 404OG. Missed playing with music so I thought this would be a good idea. It is very meditative. Loving it. The 404 Mk2 looks killer, might pick one up if I can find one.
