Hi all,

Quick question, wondering if anyone's come up against this before and can recommend an app. I'm travelling and taking the 404 with me. I've got about 160 drum samples (one shot snares, kicks, hats, percussion etc.) that I figured would be good to keep with me.

I thought if I use folders in either VLC or iTunes I'd be able to skim through my sounds until something fits a track and then record in off my phone.

Unfortunately there seems to be no way (even unchecking tracks) to make it not play the next track in iTunes (it just flies through them all one after the other) and VLC doesn't like samples underneath a second long for some reason.

Can anyone recommend something I can use to manage the sounds on a phone? Ideally just want to be able to tap it, hear it, tap the next one etc.

Thanks in advance.

If you want a simple solution id just make a lossless copy and stick all of your drum hits on Soundcloud as a couple of individual tracks and set them to private.

That way you can store the sounds and just scroll through your hits until you find the combos you want to play around with and sample them direct from your phone into the SP.

It wont be the best in tems of audio quality obviously but for playing around and jamming out ideas and stuff it'll be fine.

Awesome idea, hadn't thought of this but definitely worth putting together to have on hand.

There’s actually a lot of neat mobile DAW’s nowadays that you can purchase. I haven’t really kept up with them but I can recommend iMaschine.

I think AKAI has an app too.

Sounds like you got your solution but in case not there’s always Dropbox. They have a free version with 2gb limit that works great and syncs amongst all devices and cloud.

I agree with this solution, just make a lossless copy and stick all of your drum hits on Soundcloud as a couple of individual tracks

AudioShare, If you are using music-making apps on your device, this tool is a must-have!

Organize all your soundfiles and midifiles on your device. Create folders, rename and move files and folders around, put everything where you can find it.
