Of course. No argument on my point of view. I used to use wave forms... now I use my ear. the training wheels came off my bike.

I started with an sp, so for the first year of making music it was by ear. Then I got a MPC 2500 & I was definitely able to chop faster seeing the waveform. But my goal for the first few years of making music was to build up skills & learn as much as possible, so I'm glad I started without the visual. What's crazy tho is I thought the 404 had a useless sequencer, so I made all beats in resample mode. Then I got the MPC & realized that I was just leaving too much air/space before the sample in the 404. I saw how fast the sample played when hitting the MPC pads (there was always a minor delay with the sp) & it hit me like a lightening bolt. I still love making beats in resample mode, but I'll use the sequencer from time to time. So for me the waveform made chopping faster, but not having a waveform taught me to use my ears.
