Hello everyone, so like a month ago i copped a maschine mikro! been making gritty lo-fi beats like 2-3 years. ive been always attracted to the SP series. Now im thinkin of buying an SP202 as i saw this little powerful toys price is about 60-100$. Can anybody help me with this ? i aint got a audio interface(it is a problem using the 202 without audio interface?). Also, Would i be able to record everything played live on the 202 to the maschine software ?
Thanks in advance !

EDIT: i know the 202 aint got a sequencer, you think the 303 is a better choise ?

The 202 only has 2-3 voice s of polyphony on the internal banks, which only has 32 seconds of recording time. The internal bank only has 1 voice. So unless you are like me and only use loops and one shots youd be better off with the 303. That said they are not even that comparable. The 303 is a sampler that is a standalone. The 202 needs a companion for the reasons stated above and because it only has 6 effects, which vary on quality. Why would someone buy a 202? Because they are cheap, portable, lofi, and has the best pitch probaly in the whole SP series. You said you were intrested in lofi beats. The 202 offers you two lofi modes in addition to already sounding shittiy. The 303 also has two. And recording to a computer without a audio interface with any machine will be a problem. Significant quality loss.

You will definitely need an an audio interface to record the output of your sampler.

The 202 is super limited and probably counter-intuitive to your current set up. Everything it does can already be accomplished on the maschine.

I'd go for the 303 if I were you and focus on making beats on that before implementing the maschine.

Go with what you feel like G. I think maschine productions/tracks, thru the 202 Is a great combo, vice versa.

Drum loop on A/B bank (you precedly rec it in one block - > on a cassette then rec it on 202 on 1 pad)

Sample chops on C/D

and jam... ;) (but don't press more than 1 sample in same time bc the drum loop will stop )

OR

Sample loop on A/B bank

Drums on C/D

and jam with your drums over sample line (but don't press more than 1 sample in same time bc the drum loop will stop )

202 life 8)

Maschine boring me
