I know, Roland removed the Pitch Tuning since the SP-303 for time-stretch, which makes sense since it has Pitch Shift, but doesn't make sense how discombobulated it is. SP-202 is the only SP with true pitch tuning and the MS-1(the father of all SPs).

Roland should forget time stretch and just include Pitch Shift and Pitch Tune with future(if any) SPs. Pitch tune can slow or speed the sample while Pitch Shift can adust the key of the sample. With that, you can get a good clean timestretch.

and also roland is advanced in this field with the variphrase technique (vp9000 and the great vsynth:best hardwares for timestratching)and on the mc909 you are able to divide the pitch tune from timestretching (and viceversa)...hope they will remember all those qualities for the next product...

the missing pitch or transpose as akai called it drove me away from sp first! took time to handle my shit. but i think it's still missing.
dont know for what reason roland didnt incorporate that. it's like the heart of sampling. you all know the melody barking dog example, right?

Believe me, it was beaten in the head at Roland. They know we want pitch tuning but won't give it because they figure they gave you enough. Bullshit when you consider a Volca Sample that has -+100% pitch tuning range. If a little VS can do it, so should the SP.

i always sample vinyl so a lot of the time i speed up or slow down the vinyl to where i want it

funny how no one's mentioned this

because none of those digital effects are "real pitch" but they are emulated real pitch yeah

i have a cassette deck (a nakamichi, and god damn it, no one will work on it where i live) that has the ability to slow down or speed up the playback of the cassette and that sound was absolutely incredible

those machines are fucking beasts and i understand why out here in DALLAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST CITIES IN THE US why i can't find anyone that will work on it smfh it's so damn stupid
