sorry that this is such a newb question, but i finally got a memory card. i'm having trouble though. How am I supposed to correctly put multiple samples on the card and then be able to play them on the sp404? If i put just one sample on the card I can get it to work, but right now i have, i think, 5 separate samples, but when i try to record them onto the pads i just get a bunch of noise.

Do i need to save the files under certain names (like number them or something)? Do i need to create some type of file directory on the card? It is probably something small that I am looking over. The manual doesnt really go over putting multiple samples on the card. But thanks in advance!

PS: If it helps at all, I have an SP404 (which i just got), and a SanDisc Ultra 1g (thats what it is called off the top of my head).

check the files that your putting onto the card. You can put any file onto that card but the 404 will only read the correct files ie wav or AIFF files.

make sure to study page 38 of your manual it explains how you must organise you files on the memory card in order to import them correctly in the 404.

Thanks for the responses so far.

But I did check that they are in .wav format. And again I can get it to work if I put only one sample on the card.

I will check that page again once I get home, but I'm pretty sure I did.

I didn't think I would ever come across a little problem like this. I bet that it is something so simple and stupid that I am forgetting. Like in math when you forget to put the damn negative sign in front of your answer.

Alright, I got it. I tried it right when I came back home and it worked. So it was mostly, like I said, something stupid that I was forgetting to press or something

i was thinking about that, but then i figured it could be applied to any of them? because it was more of a problem of how to save the files correctly to the flash card

how about, tell us the exact combination of things you are doing when you try and what order you are doing them in? that might help

found out other week.
If you use quicktime to transport files form MP3 to Wav or AIF it compresses them. So use Audacity.

thanks for the heads up. as of now I just use Sony Sound Forge to just get my samples and then save them under .wav ...works so far.
