I ran out of vinyl/vhs/tapes to sample so now I'm going to libraries around town with a laptop and SP. Found some gems and it didn't cost a dime. It's a little bit of a psychological hurdle going digital, but I'm finally coming out of my creative slump because of it. This doesn't deserve its own thread I guess but whatever. Anybody doing the library thing?

Wow great idea and reminder of what a great resource libraries can be! When I came to LA 20 years ago I used to go to library a lot and check out tapes and cds. I am def going to start going and bring something to record with. Once I spent 5 1/2 hours at the library listening to John Coltrane "Crescent" album and drew a little pic that was inside the cd-

I used to work in the library at my college for about a year and a half. I was the dude who checked out all the electronic stuff. Anywho.... Everyday I would go to work and just sample all the stuff in the library for 5hrs a day. It was awesome! On a side note, last time I went to my local small town library I snagged Blade Runner special edition VHS from the free box. Good thread Kel.

Holy Moly.
Glad I read that post formal. I went to the Music library at my college (UW) and asked about records. Turns out nobody has checked out vinyl for years, so they moved the collection to an off-campus location. They agreed to give me access to the collection (15,000+ records!!!) in exchange for helping them re-archive little by little each week.

Nice!
I've been helping out at a used record and book shop for the last few months whenever I have spare time between work and university. I mostly spend the time either looking after the shop for a day or two or moving stuff from the basement to the shop floor and vice versa. Whenever a new collection comes in I help price it up and get to help myself to some of the stuff that probably won't sell. I get a pretty decent discount too. Whenever I'm left on my own I just put on some obscure record or something I've never heard and listen out for samples (mainly looking for breaks.)

Life is good :)

Libraries are awesome indeed. They recently tore down the library here in Lawrence, moving it to a temporary location during reconstruction. The old one was so great and its beauty is more clear to me now that its gone. I guess buildings can be like people in that way. The summer before last i lived out the campground and if the weather wasn't nice I'd make beats at the library. They had desks in the corners of the basement where i could hide and make beats for hours. I still do my uploading to audacity at the library, since my cheap lap top has a bad sound card, or something. I'm an incredibly unknowledgable sound engineer.
All i know is the SP and the library.. and pizza delivery.

im from Poland. me and my best friend used to make a huge list of interesting vinyls/cds at home before trip to library, then we went to and take records home.. my best beats were made during that old times. it was way before my 404. we were teenagers with crazy motivation. it makes me wanna do it again, but with my sp this time :) it may be even better experience. i should call my friend by now! :D

Ej ziemia gdzie trafiłeś na tę bibliotekę? Myślałem, że takie miejsca u nas nie istnieją.

Perhaps you should look for better samples. For example, in https://paperap.com/ all the types of essays and different assignments are available for free. I think that is a great opportunity for many students to improve their performance.

Blah blah blah...

Perhaps you should fuck off and stop spamming the site with the constant garbage you post?
