Unrarx is free and what I use.

I'm slightly confused by the title of this thread tho. Rar files are like zip files, they are a container file to hold multiple files or compress them in size. If you need an actual audio converter download audacity.

yeah you cannot convert .rar files to mp3 because RAR is basically just the newer version of .ZIP, so Its the equivalent of whatever Mac uses for archiving files (.tar?)

I use open source everything, because it works good and its free but you should still donate to software authors if you make money on it.

im pretty sure vlc media player can do something like this in a weird convoluted way. ive converted flac to .wav with it before.

check this out

for your other question, rar expander works very well for mac i ilke it better than zipeg even, but it only does .rar files, zipeg is still nice when you have other file types unzipped.

I know some online converter can convert audio files easily: https://online-audio-converter.com/
Format converter may also convert .RAR.that allows you to convert kinds of files, such as image, PDF and so forth.
The flv to mp4 converter can handle kinds of video/audio conversion, as well: http://www.videoconverterfactory.com/tips/free-flv-to-mp4-converter.html

...because RAR is basically just the newer version of .ZIP

(If anyone interested) ;)

Yes. Not SO newer version. ZIP is dated 1989, RAR 1993.
From Wiki:

... Microsoft has included built-in .ZIP support (under the name "compressed folders") in versions of Microsoft Windows since 1998.

... The author has also released a command-line utilities called "RAR" and "UNRAR" (widely released since autumn of 1993),[6] available for macOS,[3] Linux, FreeBSD, Windows, and MS-DOS.

So RAR came actually earlier to Windows/MS-DOS than ZIP

Anyway...
Anyone else remember First person shooters (Wolfenstein, Doom II, Duke Nukem) packed on about 20 floppy disks with RAR?
Oh, those days :D
