hi i am so glad this place exists, just got a 505, and it works ok, its just the pads. You rely have to pushhh to get them to trigger, i tried cleaning them, it made it a little better, but i mean trying to record drums is impossible, you never know when the sound will trigger or not.

any help would be grate.

thanks.

this is strange behavior, as the pads dont respond to velocity.
if you play and external source into the 505, does it play fine?

it could be your RCA outputs.

hi, after hours of research i tried a technique for cleaning old synth keyboard contacts, I rubbed Acetone on the black bit under the pads and on the main PCB, its a little better, ill give it another clean tomorrow, and let everyone know.

it seems its a bad contact between the pads and main board.

I took the pads out, coated them in liquid silver. Now the pads are like new!

What up tho!
This thread got me on the right path the pad resuscitation.
Actually, the search for "liquid silver" lead me to a korg forum, maybe electribe centric, but the post was about reviving pad contacts with a product called Caikote 44. If you are ready to do some careful work, find Caikote 44 its around $10 usd depending where you find it. Carefully open up the machine that needs its pads doctored. Clean them off and apply Caikote 44 to the contact surfaces and follow instructions for drying them.
Caikote 44 for sure brought my SP505 back to life with minimal hastle and just cost about $10 a few hours. For sure, you could call this stuff, "liquid silver".
Cheers!
