Sup ? Does anyone from these forums use this wonderful machine ?

I am low on money right now so I have to think carefully to buy it or not. I have Sp-404 already and wanted to add a Sp-505 to use sample chop and pitch features as well as a large sample amount it can store (500+ samples).

I asked someone before already and would like to hear more comments on this machine because now they go quite cheap for like 100$ and less on eBay.

I'd say go for it but make sure you get your hands on smart media card 'cause those are getting more and more difficult to find. The great thing is you can use the 505 to trigger the sounds on your 404 as well since it has midi out.

Wow, for $100 or less you cannot lose. However, they really go for $185-285 on ebay.

I once saw for like 70 bucks although the price went up to $100+ so i guess thats not the prob.

Speakin bout smartmedia cards on ebay you can also buy a XD to SM adapter they advertise that it works great with 505 too. So i can get loads of 128mb XD (bigger cards are not supported by the 505 and the adapter itself) instead of that lame SM's.

How about features, can anyone comment on chop, swing and pitch functions how they work ?

You have to look at completed auctions to really see prices.

I have an SP-505. Awesome sampler. I love it to death. But it doesnt work well the the 404. You cant trigger the 404 from it wich is wak. All you can do is sync up the sequencers. You can only trigger external things from note range c1 to c2(ot was it c3 to c4...dont remember exactly) so its kinda useless as an external sequencer.Wich is a shame because I really like the sequencer on it. But it is a great sampler. It will let you do alot of things the 404 cannot. such as pitching a sample over an octave.n (thats the big one for me)

they can just create another forum part dedicated for 505 and 606, and probably 808 so we cover all roland/boss SP series.
