hi guys
i'm new on this forum and first of all i would like to thanx the...
no, ok, i stop this :)

please, here some questions:

>>>>>i got an XP pc<<<<<

1) the 606 is recognized as a soundcard by my pc, that's great. but sometimes when i connect the usb cable from it to the pc a "TBIA error message" appears...what is it?
2) i opened up the 606 on ableton live 6; the 606 is recognized in the "audio device preferences" (as roland sp-606), so i choosed it with the asio driver type; the audio works: everything played on the program (and the pc) sort out from the sp606 out. i choosed it also as the soundcard of the pc.
3) in the "midi ports" on the same program there is no traces of the 606...so, for now, i cannot control ableton live6. what i done is to put the 606 on "EXT" but no midi signals are shown on the program when i push on the 606 pads, nor nothing appears on the program when i play sequences...
....and on the pc in the control panel>audio devices>etc in the midi section the roland sp606 doesen't appears...
4) Is the usb mode ok in order to record audio sounds in sync directly from the 606 to whatever program?
5) the mass-storage works!
6) the mfx2 button doesn't light often: do someone had the same trouble? is it ok to open the machine and take a look inside (soldering or spraying)?

thanx guys!

YEAH, I HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO GET ANY PROGRAM TO RECOGNIZE THE 606 AS A MIDI INTERFACE LIKE THE 555. YOU COULD SET UP THE 555 TO CONTROL THINGS WITH THE PADS. BUT MY 606 WONT SHOW UP IN ANY MIDI SECTION, IVE TRIED ABLETON, CUBASE FRUITYLOOPS AND REASON. SO IM NOT SURE YOU CAN DO IT AND THE MANUAL IS WRITTEN FOR A 5 YEAR OLD KINDA.

hi thanx

the problem is that neither ableton nor windows (panel control) are able to recognize the 606 as midi...
...i found some "606 midi driver" (sp 606 mme) on the window audio devices, windows says that the driver isn't istalled: maybe is that the problem? i've tried to find it on korakios files but it isn't there....

(do i have to install the p606 to have midi with other programs?)

have u tried downloading and installing the right driver from here?

also when u hit the menu button on the sp.. scroll down to 4: usb audio/midi - and make sure the vender driver is on.. also ur output source needs to be on mix if you want to record from your sp... if its on input it'll only record what you have in the inputs.

weird that your mfx2 button doesnt work often... it should

thanx for the link Tee, but what is the right one? is the usb/midi one?

this is ok. i've done that.
but still neither windows nor ableton don't recognize any sp606 as midi, so no possible sync; instead of all this, the 606 "audio" works very well on ableton and windows via usb and the "mass storage" too...
i recently downloaded a program to remove usb drivers (Usbdeview, useful) and when for ex. m-audio soundcard drivers or nanokey drivers or xiosynth drivers appears as "audio" on the "device specific" column, the sp606 drivers appear just as "mass storage" and "vendor specific"...

I would recommend downloading the "clean all" utility from the previous link and then install the xp driver....

i placed the USB_XP2K folder on the desktop too...

-to reinitialize the machine could help on something? this sp606 was initialized by someone on the shop where i bought it, maybe is this the trouble...
-i've tried midi with other instruments, the midi clock seems to work, the sync seems complicated (do the pads send midi messages? on the manual it talks about receiving, not sending, this doesn't means that pads don't send, but...)

i took a look at the TBIA thing (the TBIA invalid data error)...
this means Task Bar icon Application.
i read on the net that ,for example, this happens when you have many usb drivers of different devices (audio or not) installed.
concerning soundcards i have m-audio fast track pro, novation xiosynth 25 and now sp606 drivers installed...
other audio usb drivers: evolution uc16, em-u midi to usb.
non-audio usb drivers: internet modem, tablet for design, drivers for a camera.
maybe this cause a conflict between drivers? who knows...
maybe unistalling m-audio ftp drivers (and xiosynth) could help...
do someone experienced this?

anyway, this is someone on the net's solution to delete TBIA error:
start>run>msconfig>ok>startup>icon to delete (uncheck it)>apply>ok

the TBIA error way was the good way to begin the searching.

i unistalled the m-audio ftp drivers (very hardly to unistall: it occurred me 3 times pc reboots) and the novation xiosynth drivers.

now the sp606 is recognized also as midi by windows and ableton live. the sync works.

i think it was a sort of "midi drivers conflict".

so, for this time, no roland driver corrupted or troubles like this guys.

thanx to everyone who answered/watched to those posts!

cheers
