How do you add .wav files to your compact flash drive on your computer? And when you have it on, how do you add it to individual pads on the SP-606?

I just want to add like a 1 sec sound from my computer, to my compact flash drive, to one pad on my sp-606.

If you can help, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Couln't be easier.

Step one: Save your wav to the card. You need to have the SP in 'mass storage mode' for this.

Step two: once disconnected from the computer, select 'card utility' and 'import'.

Step three: select the bank/pad that you wish to put the sample on.

Done :D

Note: if you have a bunch of short samples, put them into a big file with 16 of them, so that you can use the chopper to spread them across a whole bank (saves heaps of time). Check the multisamples thread for details.

I find that sampling via usb is much quicker than exporting/loading to the sp/cf card. Sound should be sent to the sp via usb from your computer, and the sample loop edit lets you clean up your sample. You can always export the sample if needed afterwards.

I emailed Roland about receiving a compact flash card from them and they told me this:

"The SP-606 doesn't normally ship with a Compact Flash card. We've had the best luck with Sandisk Ultra II Type 1 Compact Flash cards at sizes from 128-512MB, which should be available at most computer parts supply stores."

Can I get those at Best Buy and did anyone else do the same thing? Go out and buy the card at best buy or something?

Should be able to get ultra II cards everywhere. Kingston cards are great too.

My friend couldn't get one anywhere, so Roland got one from Japan for him. That's Roland Australia though.

It's going to be a little bit before I get the scandisk and the drive for the computer for that so I was wondering if anyone can explain to me how to transfer music/sounds from your computer to your 606 using a USB.
