I have the sp606 running fine on my old windows xp computer for a few years now. I recently got a laptop and installed windows 7 32-bit. I tried to install the drivers and they where not compatible. I then tried using Windows legacy mode (or more commonly called Windows XP Mode). which I downloaded from the windows website but still no joy. The drivers seem still not to be compatible. Any one know how to fix this problem I'v tried everything and am now even thinking of installing windows xp on to my laptop.

How'd you do it, dude? I've been having the same sort of troubles. Legacy mode was a no-go for me as well.

Many thanks in advance.

yeah, cheers, i worked that out.

i cannot believe that roland haven't made available a 64 bit driver.

i'm not uninstalling my 64 bit windows and reinstalling 32 bit, so i guess i have to go back to using the 606 only with my old computer.

very bad, roland. not happy.

Hey, looking to pick the 606 up, but no support in Windows 7 64-bit is a deal breaker.
Those of you currently using it, what do you do? Are you still in XP, or Vista/7 32-bit?
The piece is only what, like 5 years old? Why drop the support?

I thought about going back to XP, and my current rig could handle it. But, I just upgraded to 8GB of RAM, and I'd lose out on that.
Plus, going into the future (Windows 8?), what's going to happen?
Sadly, I think I'm going to have to pass on this piece. :(

If anyone is interested, there's a Guitar Center on Long Island, NY that has one for $250, and it's in perfect shape.

Personally I use the 606 with my Satellite that runs on XP. Never tried it on Vista or 7 but I see the lack of support. Vista lost its support last week from MS. I can see why people switch to Macs but XP is a great OS no matter what.

Roland really should upgrade the drivers for the 606. That machine can do alot but was released at the wrong time. You can use any program with it and sample anything from the internet as well as any tangent media, it was ahead of its time and Maschine wished it can do what the 606 did.
