What you are calling patterns (lights) are tracks.
Me and some other 606 users have encountered a "memory full" message when the thing was not really full (a 606 glitch). Make sure you have the latest upgrade from Roland's site. Since I updated I have never had that problem.btw the only way to erase tracks is to do it manually or in step.

To manually delete a track you have to loop record and activate erase as the pattern plays until it's empty that's the only way.

When you're trying to sample, or record a new pattern?

I don't know. I never import songs from memory cards. I'd recommend reading the 606 manual carefully & trying all sorts of different things to try and get what you're after- good luck.

Erasing patterns won't help you.

You will get that annoying 'memory full' message when you've filled up the entire first few (non-flash card) banks with samples. Free that up and you're free of that problem.

I believe this is because the SP-606 uses that memory to save and load files or something. Very annoying, but there's a fix. 8)

actually i had the same problem once, but i just turned off my sp-606 turned it on and the problem was gone - means that it;s possible to have first 9 banks filled with samples and having the rest of the banks operating - sometimes just reload sp-606

donno if this applies, but with the 505, if you have large samples in the chop and pitch banks you can get memory full issues. remove the files from those 'process-heavy' banks and yr golden. maybe somefing similar w/ the 606?
